NBPD: On Sunday, January 25, 2026, at approximately 9:14 a.m., North Bend Police Department responded to a 911 call from dispatch regarding a report of a suspicious incident involving an injured person. Officers contacted the reporting party and determined that a 30-year-old female had been assaulted by Korry Alexis Matthews, age 40, of North Bend. The victim sustained injuries that required medical attention. Officers also confirmed that Matthews had two active arrest warrants and that there was an active restraining order in place, with the victim listed as the protected party. A search warrant was subsequently served at the location to apprehend Matthews. During the investigation, Matthews was believed to be in possession of firearms and was located in some brush adjacent to the residence. Due to the significant safety concerns, the Coos County Emergency Response Team (ERT) was activated to assist. After approximately one hour of attempting to have Matthews exit the location voluntarily, ERT members made entry into the residence to locate and take him into custody. Matthews was located and arrested without incident. He was taken into custody on charges related to the assault, violation of a restraining order, and the outstanding warrants During the search, officers also located a firearm with an attached grenade launcher and suspected narcotics-related items in Matthews’ possession. Police were on scene for 5-6 hours. Additional charges may be referred to the District Attorney’s Office pending further review of evidence obtained during the execution of the search warrant and continued investigation. Involved Person: Korry Alexis Matthews, 40, of Theisville Charges Include: Warrant arrest for failure to appear on prior charges including robbery, theft, assault, strangulation, harassment; assault; unlawful possession of a firearm; and violation of a restraining order. This incident remains under investigation.
